We had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Mema is doing wonderfully well and heading home from the hospital today. She has impressed all of the doctors and nurses.

We kicked off the good eating with shrimp & grits on Wednesday night. Here's Henry helping out in the kitchen, playing with his farmer toy on the fridge.

Here's a very clean Henry, straight from the tub.

Henry and Elly were dancing to the farmer toy music.

Pics from our wonderful Thanksgiving day. Henry was dressed in his holiday best!

Praying for Mema

Tomorrow, my grandmother (Mema) will be having cancer surgery. She is nearly 90 and she and my grandfather have been married nearly 69 years. We know she's going to do great. But we'd love it if you could pray with us, too, for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery.

Because Henry and I have been under the weather a bit, we weren't able to love on Mema like we wanted to. We want her to be well for her surgery!

These next two photos are very momentous in the Dodson family history. That little bench was made by my uncle Lew (my dad's oldest brother) over 40 years ago. And since then, every one of my grandparents' grandchildren (6) and 9 of the 11 great-grandchildren have sat on and had their pictures made on this bench. Now, we have reached 10 of 11 great-grandchildren! We only need to get Charlie's sweet rear onto this bench (and then, Leigh's twins...who are arriving in February!)

This bench is so important to the family that even my GRANDFATHER climbed down to sit with Henry on this bench!
Baba & Henry with Mema and Grandaddy.

Grandaddy is a great swinger! And Henry loved swinging right along with him. And...yes, you guessed it...Henry loved his hat. He LOVES hats!

God's Goodness

I often find myself in very frustrating situations thinking, "God. Really? You couldn't just let the traffic be a little bit lighter right now?" Or, "God, you couldn't just...." Fill in the blank. I find it so easy to complain about a lack of intervention when I think it should happen.

But today, I noticed an extra dose of God's goodness giving me one heck of a break.

I've been battling a cold for a week. Henry is running a fever and was sent home from daycare yesterday. So we're hanging out at home today. Which I love! But it takes a toll on my back. Needless to say, neither of us are at the top of our game.

This morning, after giving Henry a bit of a bottle, we left the house to go to the doctor's office. We were gone about an hour and a half.

When I walked in the door after returning from the doctors, I saw that the rest of the milk had completely leaked out of the bottle. But, as you'll see from the picture below, it all pooled directly around the sink, not getting into anything on the counter or spilling a drop on the floor.

I mean, come on. Thank you, Jesus, for that one. I appreciate it.

Henry & Charlie Playing

This weekend was the last homegame at UVa. Thus, it was the last time the Dodson clan will be together at our home until sometime after Christmas. (We'll be celebrating Henry's birthday in Richmond.)

It is so fun watching the boys play together. They've grown up so much this fall. It is hard to believe that they will be chasing each other around by next football season!

Piglet & Tigger

As many of you know, Andrew's best friend since middle school is Bryan. Well, Bryan and his wife Nicole had a baby boy, Brendan, (their third) about 5 months before Henry. So, Brendan and Henry are betrothed best friends. They have no choice.

They were part of our Halloween picnic this year. And much to Bryan's chagrin, Nicole dressed Brendan up as Piglet (eventually, he swapped Piglet out for Darth Vader--much more to Bryan's liking!). Here are some of the most precious pictures of our little Tigger and his best buddy Piglet.

(More pictures to come. I just had to post these. SO ADORABLE!)

Fun Videos

As Andrew mentioned during the last post, I was absolutely slammed with work and, well, posting blog entries just took a back seat.

Here are some cute videos to catch you up on Henry's rapid growth.

Climbing Stairs:

Forgive Andrew's filming skill here. He's both doing the camera and in charge of keeping Henry from slipping backwards. So it's a bit close. But you get the gist of Henry's skill.

Here is a glimpse into Henry's new obsession--walking while pushing things. Mostly, we convince him to push things with wheels. But he seems to like to try and prove to us that other things can be pushed, too. At first I was like, "But Henry, you can't push the stool, it doesn't have wheels." Now, I'm like, "Cool, Henry. Who knew the stool could be so much fun?"

Tigger on the prowl: Andrew already told you that for Halloween we hung out with some friends on the lawn before the craziness of trick-or-treating began. This was way more fun for Henry than collecting candy.
