Va. Beach Shower

Just in case Andrew and I weren't capable of spoiling Baby Breen enough, Saturday was proof positive that this poor child has no chance but to be spoiled to pieces!!! More than twenty of us gathered at a beautiful restaurant selected by my Aunt Sandy for an absolutely delicious lunch and a wonderful celebration!

Take a look at this precious cake!

Of course I couldn't wait to dig in!

Here are all the Dodson ladies: Gabrielle, Mandi, Krista, Kesiah, Mema, Aunt Carolyn, Mom, me and Kim. We missed you Leigh, Aunt Louise and Stephanie!

I mean come on! I could hardly move after being surrounded by all of these gifts! Everyone was so wonderful and incredibly generous. We are so blessed!!

Kesiah was, as usual, my darling little helper. She did such a great job handing me the gifts and helping me unwrap. She's grown up quite a bit from the flower girl...and will always be my sweet, sweet niece. I love you, kiddo!

The hostesses! Mom, me, Tara and my Aunt Sandy. Thank you all for making it a magical day!

It's coming together...

These shots are from our visit to the house on Saturday. The stuff they're doing now isn't really "Oooh" and "Ahhh" stuff, but it's still nice to watch it slooowly come together. Audrey and I left the house repeating to eachother "five weeks? Five weeks! Five weeks!?!" Five more weeks, and then we're homeowners.

An example of the nice crown molding.

Pantry. Lots of room for boxes of cereal, and possibly other things.

Big hole for the TV, including little slots for DVD player, cable box.

Inside the master closet. Shelving galore! We aren't going to know what to do with all of this crazy space!

My glucose is Awesome!

I couldn't wait any longer. Last Tuesday I took my 1 hour glucose test: drank the fruit punch, waited an hour and then had blood drawn. I assumed no news was good news from the doctor's office. But I just had to know for sure. So, I called the nurse. She said I passed with flying colors. I scored a 94 and they want to see numbers less than 129. Woohoo! My glucose is awesome!

Pregnancy Phase 2

I know that there are trimesters and months and a zillion other ways to divide the 9 months of pregnancy. But for me, it feels like I have just entered a new phase of this pregnancy. The last week or so has been a little rough on my back. Work has been busy with the beginning of school and every since the activities of Labor Day weekend, I haven't quite felt normal. Well, this morning I had an appointment with my back doctor and he confirmed what I thought. Things are not the same with my back. Two words Dr. Dean used were "inflamed" and "tight." Add to that the typical hip discomfort that comes with pregnancy and I've definitely entered Audrey's Pregnancy Phase 2.

You all know me well enough to know that I am REJOICING that it is 28 weeks and I am just finding myself here. What a gift! On the other hand, it is going to be a great challenge for me to put the breaks on things I love so much. Fewer nights hanging out with friends, not signing up for everything I want to do at our young and vibrant church, no more trips (except, of course, to get to Va. Beach for the shower, mom!), and no more football games. Thankfully, we're terrible this season, so that last one isn't going to be too tough. Ha.

Still, there is plenty to keep me busy this fall. It will take some real discipline and a gentle, but firm hand of Andrew's to remind me that if everything doesn't get done, it's okay. The calendar is filling w/ doctor's appointments. We're now into the go-to-the-obgyn-every-two-weeks stage. We are having extra ultrasounds because of the fibroids. Add to that acupuncture, massage and now physical therapy and that is A LOT of appointments. Oh yeah, and there's this other thing we're doing--MOVING! Thankfully, Andrew and I have prepared for this and knocked out quite a bit of packing already. Our motto is one box per night. Sometimes its two one night and none the next...but it all averages out.

And don't forget the baby classes and how much I'm being spoiled by baby showers. We also have a huge weekend the first of October with a house full of friends and the Renshaw wedding.

As I'm writing this I'm asking myself, how are we going to do all of this? I don't know. I do know that we have the greatest friends and family in the world. It is now time for us to lean on you. Because the honest answer is that we can't do it all.

So as it turns out, Pregnancy Phase 2 is only going to be about 12 weeks (give or take) and not 20. I am so thankful!

Not wetwall. Drywall.

Finally, some new pictures. The crew put all of the drywall up on Saturday. It's hard to take interesting shots of drywall, but this will kinda give you the idea..

The kitchen. The closet-looking thing is actually called a "pantry," which, I've learned, is not a place one puts one's pants.

The dinette area. We'll have an island separating kitchen from dining room.

Deck doors.

The basement. That wall looks to be about the size of a giant flat-screen tv. Just sayin'.

Soaking tub comes with nice view.

This is the view from the baby's room.

A piece of the master bedroom. Notice the tray ceiling. That's right, our ceiling will look like a tray.
Here is the view from our bedroom window. Nice.

The door from the garage to the main hallway. The entire inside of the house pretty much looks like this.

Doc Appointment: "You're doing GREAT!"

Ha. Our nurse cracked me up today. She just kept saying, "You're doing Great!" My weight elicited a "this is great!" My blood pressure was "you're doing great!" Yay! I guess that's GREAT! That's funny.

So, all is well on the mommy-baby front. My weight is right-on, my bp is nice and low, I thought Baby Breen was going to kick off the heart monitor. He/she was moving around so much. It took the doc about a half of a second to find Baby Breen's heartbeat. It was right there and strong as can be.

Afterwards I went down to the lab for my glucose test. I drank some fruit punch stuff and then sat for an hour before they took my blood. The results will be back tomorrow and the technician said, "No news is good news." This test is to see if I have gestational diabetes (GD). If this test comes back questionable, I'll take a 3 hour test next before the confirm if I really have GD. I'm praying that this test comes back perfectly and I can scratch this from my list of worries.

We also have someone coming over tonight to check out the apartment. So, say a prayer that she's interested. That would be a HUGE burden lifted if we could find a renter.

I think that's it for now. The house has been drywalled and looks amazing. We'll take some pictures and post them shortly.

Love you all!!

Closing Date!

We just heard from our builder this morning that our tentative closing date is October 22...a full 9 days earlier than the original date on the contract. Woohoo! We've got to get busy packing.

Thank goodness there will be plenty of time to get the nursery together. Ahhh, I feel very relieved.
