Baby Breen's Second Photo Shoot

Here's Baby Breen waiving to all of you! He or she can't wait to meet you!!

We got to see the baby in real action. Here he or she is showing off their flexability and bending their legs way over their head.

This might be one of my favorite shots. Its a picture of the bottom of both feet. So sweet!

Here's an up-close profile shot.

And finally a photo of all 4 chambers of the baby's heart. That was amazing to see!

Pictures are coming...

We have so many pictures to take and post. This morning was the big anatomy ultrasound and the baby looks great. Our self control passed its greatest test: we didn't give in and find out if we're having a girl or a boy. It was DEFINITELY tempting, however.

It was as amazing as ever to see the baby on the ultrasound screen. For the first time, it was easy to see the baby actually move around like a baby: sucking on his (or her!) fingers, kicking his legs over and over, pulling his feet up by his head and playing with his toes. It was SO cool! He even brushed his mouth with his hands at one point and opened his mouth way up. He was a little uncoordinated and couldn't quite get his fingers into his mouth at will. But he definitely sucked on them when they got in there!

I'm feeling the baby move quite regularly now. I thought I'd felt him for the last couple of weeks every now and again. And I was right. But I couldn't really confirm that until now. He (or she!) moves so much. Even now, he's wiggling around. I think he wants to send a shout-out to Texas! :)

He or she is a big baby. She's measuring about 22 weeks and 1 day--a full week from where I am (21 weeks and 1 day). The doctor wasn't troubled by that at all. Sometimes the baby grows in spurts and might be a little closer to what I'm counting next time. But even if the baby stays a week ahead, it's no big deal.

We have images from the ultrasound to post. AND we need to take pictures of the house...or the very beginning stages of the house...and post them. They've dug out the basement and poured the concrete walls for the garage and basement. We can really start to see the footprint of the house. It's so exciting!

We are so blessed! Love to you all.

Doctor's Appointment & House Update

Oh, I forgot to mention that yesterday we had our monthly doctor's appointment. It was fun! The baby was particularly squirmy and the doctor had to chase him or her around my tummy with the Doppler. She'd get the heartbeat and then the baby would squirm away. It was funny! Finally, she managed to get the baby still and we heard that ever-beautiful heartbeat. It was strong and loud! Yay!

The doctor is going to set us up with an anesthesiologist soon. Because of my back surgery, we have to work with them to determine if my scar will inhibit an epidural. Yikes! We'll be in touch with them in the next couple of weeks. They'll probably ask to see my films and then make a decision about whether or not they actually need to see me. Cross your fingers and say a prayer that I'll still be eligable for an epidural. Otherwise, Krista is going to have a LOT to teach me (she went all-natural with all 3 of the girls!).

We schedule our big ultrasound for July 30 at 8:15am. I still think we aren't going to find out if the baby is a boy or a girl. But the doctors will swing down there and take a look. They're confident that they'll be able to do that without us knowing...which is probably true. We could stare at that screen for hours and not necessarily know what we're seeing. And if we ultimately want to know, we can ask the doctor at any point after the ultrasound before delivery. All in all, our plans are to hold out until our precious miracle is born. We'll see how we do.

Oh and a quick house update: they haven't broken ground yet. Our builder, Chris is still waiting on the building permit. But he will have the survey team out this week to mark the lot. Andrew and I went over to the model to select a few things for the house this past Sunday. We picked the hard wood floor type, the kitchen cabinets, the kitchen countertops, the sink & light fixture hardware and the door handles. We've got to select the carpet, the outside colors, the master bath tile, etc. But we're getting close! We can't wait for them to break ground so we can post some pictures!!

Love you all!!

Vacation Pictures!

We had such an amazing vacation! We relaxed and rested in Texas and then headed up to Wisconsin for a huge family reunion. My mom's mother was the oldest of 15 children. This is the house that her parents built and where all the kids were born and raised. It is still in the family and an amazing experience to walk around and hear stories about my grandmother and all of her siblings growing up. Awesome!

Believe it or not, but here is my brother Greg and my dear Andrew skeet shooting. They did awesome! These city boys really impressed those Wisconsin natives.

While the skeet shooting was going on, the girls wondered into a field of wild flowers. These pictures are amazing and were totally NOT staged.

Here's sweet baby Gwen hanging out after dinner one night. You can tell from her jacket that it got pretty cool there in the evenings!

This might be my favorite picture! My mom bought these really beautiful July 4th dresses for the girls. We had to get a shot of them all together. This swing was right across from our cabins and sat right in front of the little lake on the campground. The girls practiced their rock skipping on the water...but never quite got the hang of it. We'll have to do some more camping in the future!

We love, love, loved our time in Texas! It was so nice to just relax and rest before heading up to all of the action in Wisconsin.
